We’ve been asked to jump on board with Hogarths, Swansea this New Year’s Eve, and well, we have to admit, anything involving gin and cabaret – we didn’t have to think twice! We’ll seeing in the new Year in style, with entertainment the famous painter himself would raise a glass to!
Set in the sumptuous confines of Hogarths, an authentically recreated, Victorian-style gin palace, New Years’ Eve revellers can expect a very special and different night from our usual ‘sit down and watch the show’, with performers from across the UK taking to the stage at intervals throughout the night, just so you can make the most of the New Years Eve atmosphere, making this a magical night to remember.
To give a ‘Just View Of The Stage’, we have a real treat in store in the shape of London’s The Divine Miss Em. With a wealth of entertaining under her garter belt – from West End musicals to The Sin City Theatre, Las Vegas, international chanteuse The Divine Miss Em has cabaret running through her veins – really! She is the youngest daughter of a wartime Tiller Girl, who performed at the legendary Windmill Theatre! This doyenne of after-dark delivers her songs with powerful vocals and sizzling wit.
So we promised you a bit of magic, and here he is! Chesham’s Dee Riley is a magician/cabaret performer who has performed for the likes of Katy Perry, Russell Grant, David Haye and David Emanuel among others and regularly haunts the stages of London’s West End, including the Cafe De Paris and more. His dark, edgy style and flair, coupled with a few on-stage surprises will certainly add a sense of enchantment – less of the trick, but all of the treat!
In a fitting ode to Hogarth, whose works were a burlesque on 18th century life, we have 21st century burlesque from Cardiff beauty Miss Betty Blue Eyes. Known for her cheeky but oh-so-clever parodies, she will be performing her glamorous comedy tribute to Liberace: ‘Behind The Candle-A-Bra’.
Also on the bill, winner of the British Crown at this years’ World Burlesque Games in London is Lilly Laudanum, who will be making a mockery of the monarchy with her award-winning Victoria’s Secret act and Tickety Boo, a multi-award-winning performer from Chesham, will be powdering her wig and whipping out her selfie stick – expect a bit of audience participation with this one!
As ever, compere extraordinaire, and host of Bluestocking Lounge, the beautiful DeeDee DeLa Rouge will be counting down the minutes to midnight, plus to ensure the night goes with a swing, we have DJ Jared of the Vinyl High Club throughout the night and more ‘bouncing botanicals’ than you can shake a stick at – in fact, enough to blast your periwigs into 2016!
Join us for this special event at Hogarths, 2-3 St Mary St, Swansea SA1 3LH. Entertainment kicks off at 8pm with performers popping up throughout the night right up to the stroke of midnight, with the party continuing until the small hours of 2016!
Tickets, priced £5, are only available from Hogarths, which the lovely peole at Hogarths have decided will be in aid of our nominated charity – Shelter Cymru – http://www.sheltercymru.org.uk
